5 Easy Summer Hairdos

August is the hottest month of the entire summer, and there is nothing worse than facing sweltering temps without a hot weather beauty regimen to rely on. I don’t know about you, but I can’t stand the feeling of my hair being on my neck when the thermometer is climbing into three-digit territory. Instead, I like to keep my tresses off my neck, away from my face, and pulled back into an effortless ‘do. When the standard ponytail has worn out its welcome, there are a few other options to explore…

wrapped ponytail

Put a fresh spin on your basic pony by wrapping a piece of hair around the base and holding it in place with a bobby pin. Give it that beachy summer touch by tousling it up a little bit.

messy bun

This hairstyle is the easiest way to get your hair off your face and neck, and it looks cute too. Gather your hair and twist it until it makes a donut shape. Fasten your hair tie around the outer edge, secure with bobby pins and pull out a few wispy pieces for an undone look.

topsy turvy

This simple trick looks like it takes a lot of effort, but you can do it in no time at all. First throw your hair into a loose low ponytail. Then spread the hair above your hair tie into two sections and loop the ponytail through it. Pull it all the way through and loosen up the twisted sides.

You might remember this hairstyle from our festival beauty hair ideas post. Just make two braids in your hair, wrap them around your head, and secure them to the top of your head with bobby pins. Click the photo for our step-by-step tutorial.

loose fishtail

This hairstyle is great for one of those straight-off-the-beach days when your hair is salty and windblown. The salt should even make it textured enough to hold without an elastic! Never tried a fishtail? Click the photo above for an easy tutorial.

7 New Braided Hairstyles to Try Now

The variety of hairstyles you can create with braids is astounding. They can go from workout casual to wedding chic to work appropriate in minutes and work with just about any hair type. So to get you out of your winter hair rut, we’ve rounded up some inspiring spring styles—most of which you may not have seen before!

1. Faux Hawk Braid

Who knew a braid could look so rock n’ roll? If you’re looking for an edgier do, this faux hawk braid is definitely the way to go. It’s really just a French braid, down the center, and done inside out (also known as a Dutch braid). Once the braid reaches the your neck, tie it into a ponytail and wrap the elastic with your hair. Check out this awesome video for a step-by-step tutorial!

2. One-Sided Braid

If your hairstyle needs a little oomph (or your cowlick is misbehaving), this look is a great solution. Just take a small section of hair on one side of your head and French braid it toward the back of your head — this tutorial will show you how! This look works with wavy, straight, or curly hair.

3. Braided Crown Ponytail

To get the braided crown effect without full up-do, try creating one braid along your forehead, adding pieces from behind as you go, as shown in this video. Continue the braid along your hairline and pull the rest back into a sleek ponytail.

4. Double Dutch Braids

For a unique take on the classic pigtail braids, try two Dutch braids that lay straight back, parallel to your scalp. Thicken the look by pulling on the braid and separating the hair a bit. Check out this step-by-step tutorial for a closer look!

5. Tied with a Bow

This sweet, feminine look works for just about any spring occasion. Simply create two small braids on either side of your head and tie back with bow. Follow this tutorial for more detailed instructions and add a bow for that feminine touch.

6. Double Floral Crown

BEAUTY TIPS: 10 QUICK BEAUTY FIXES

Everyone of us had the situation when we were running late to the meeting, finishing final make touches and suddenly mascara smudged, or your blush landed on the wrong place just before you need to run out of the door…
In today’s article lets talk about 10 beauty tips and quick beauty fixes that you can use to rescue your beauty meltdowns:

1) If you’ve applied too much blush and you don’t have time to wash it off and do your makeup all over again, take a clean blush brush, deep it into your fixing (or translucent) powder and go over your cheeks till you tone down the bright color on your cheeks. If you used a cream blush, blend your moisturizer with foundation on the back of your hand and blend it lightly onto your cheeks, like this you will calm down the bright cheek color.

2) If you look in the mirror and notice that your foundation became cakey, try this: lightly spray your face with water and then smooth out everything with a damp sponge, blending very well all the edges.

3) To make your lipstick last longer, first line your lips with the lip pencil of the same color as your lipstick, then apply your lipstick and blot it down with paper and, finally, powder your lips. Repeat one more time all the steps and you will get “bullet proof” lip color that will last you through the 3 course dinner!

4) When your mascara smudged at the wrong moment (when you are in a hurry or late for the meeting) here is the fix: dip a flat q-tip into your moisturizer and gently remove the smudge off your face. Use the other side of the q-tip to smooth out the area.

5) Lip gloss is a wonderful beauty invention that can make your lips look juicy and very attractive! But lip glosses usually don’t have a long staying power. To prolong the juicy shine of your lip gloss on your lips try this: first apply a soft lip pencil of the same color as your lips, blend it well with your finger, and then only apply your lip gloss on top of it. The waxy texture of the lip pencil will help keep your lip gloss on your lips for longer. Who doesn’t love glossy and shiny lips?!

6) Your mascara got clumpy? No worries! Submerge your tightly closed tube of mascara into a glass of hot water (not boiling hot, just hot water) for couple of minutes. When you take it out (make sure you don’t burn your fingers!), you’ll see how your mascara softened and it won’t clump any more!

7) If your creamy eye shadow tends to crease, but you love it’s color and still want to use it, try this: after you’ve applied your cream eye shadow, lightly brush some translucent powder on top of it, it will help keep the shadow at place, working on the same principle of “fixer”, just as it does when you fix your foundation with translucent powder.

8) If your eyeliner tends to smudge (it especially concerns ladies with oily skin), try this tip: after you’ve applied your liquid or gel liner, go over it with a powder eye shadow of matching color (if you use black eyeliner – use black eye shadow). The eye shadow will seal the eyeliner, so that it will last longer without smudging.

9) Here is a great tip for a night out: if your lipstick looks flat and too matte, here is how you can “spice it up”: you can apply a lip gloss just at the center of your lips or you can apply a shimmery eye shadow at the center of your lips instead. Applying shiny eye shadow on top of your lipstick will make your lips look fuller and the powdery texture of an eye shadow will also significantly prolong the wear time.

10) If your lip gloss tends to slip off your lips in half an hour, try to mix your lip gloss with your lipstick on the back of your hand and then apply it on your lips using your finger or a lip brush, like this your lip color and shine will last longer.
